Tunbridge Wells has one of the largest conservation areas in the South East, covering the Pantiles and much of the Victorian and Georgian town, and the surrounding High Weald AONB extends into many of its outer streets. Between the two, most gardens in the town sit under some form of designation.

This does not usually stop a garden room being built - it changes the materials, colours and sometimes the height that will be acceptable. We establish the designation on your specific address before drawing anything.

Planning permission in Tunbridge Wells

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council follows the standard permitted development rules where they apply, but Article 4 directions remove some permitted development rights in parts of the conservation area, meaning an application is sometimes needed where it would not be elsewhere. We check this before quoting so there are no surprises.
