Terraced gardens and chalk ground

The ground itself is chalk over much of the city, which drains well but can be shallow and uneven close to the surface. We test levels and bearing before quoting rather than assuming a standard raft will do.

Planning permission in Brighton and Hove
Brighton & Hove City Council follows the standard permitted development rules, but the city has an unusually high number of conservation areas covering its Regency and Victorian terraces, and a number of listed buildings along the seafront and in the North Laine.
